About Us

Essentially Odd Jobs is a family run and owned business that offers a professional handyman service in and around Airport West. Something that started as a passion for home renovations and DIY tasks has now grown into our own full-time handyman business. Prior to establishing Essentially Odd Jobs Gabrielle and Darren managed numerous investment properties, renovated their own home as owner builders, as well as designing and constructing numerous other projects such decking and a children’s cubbyhouse.

Our team at Essentially Odd Jobs is now helping householders maintain their homes and investment properties by attending to all those small jobs other tradesmen don’t want to do.

We understand the importance of showing up on time EVERY time, getting the job done professionally and promptly, and cleaning up completely once the job is done.

Our aim is to provide you with cost effective solutions to all your problems around the home. Essentially Odd Jobs are dedicated to making sure all your repair and maintenance requirements are fulfilled 100% to your satisfaction.

Gabrielle

My name is Gabrielle and I am the first person you will talk to when you give us a call. I started my career as a Primary School Teacher which lasted 10 years and during this time I decided to extend and renovate my own home. Due to a tight budget I chose to do the job as an ‘Owner Builder’ which lead me to finding a passion for all things DIY. I had the builders come in and build the house to ‘lock up’ and then I spent the next year demolishing, laying floorboards, plastering, tiling, painting, hanging doors and doing basic carpentry. Recently my husband and I found ourselves with an opportunity to follow a different path which has led to the establishment of ‘Essentially Odd Jobs’.

Darren

My name is Darren and I am your local handyman. I have worked as an IT Consultant for the past 15 years and prior to that I was a Store Manager at McDonald’s and a Mechanic. In secondary school I discovered a skill for woodwork and furniture making and I have continued to developed my skills over the years doing many home projects such as building decks & cubby houses, paving, bathroom renovation and general home maintenance. Over the past 10 years I have also maintained a number of investment properties. Gabrielle and I have seen the opportunity to build ‘Essentially Odd Jobs’ into a business that allows us to use our talents for DIY and provide the local community with a trustworthy, reliable and professional service.
